Leadership assessment and development for West Mercia Police
West Mercia Police was implementing a new structure to rationalise back-office functions and increase the span of control for some leaders. The Head of Leadership Development wanted to understand and develop leader capabilities and asked Change Associates to help.
What we did
We used the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework to identify key competencies and performance indicators which could be assessed and measured in a development centre.
We ran centres for 35 leaders and their direct reports. Participants received a personalised report, a feedback session, and a development plan. We also provided analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the whole leadership team.
West Mercia Police was able to identify competence gaps, prioritise development and design succession plans to bring in leadership capabilities for the future.
Feedback from participants and the project sponsor was excellent.
